Applying for a Formal Review with ACC – Tips to Make it Easier

If you disagree with a decision ACC has made, you can ask for a formal review. The application form is now available online on the ACC website.

The online form includes several required fields that must be completed before you can submit it. Here are some tips to help make the process smoother:

  • Have your decision letter handy – it includes key details like your ACC claim number and the date the decision was issued.
  • Be clear about your reasons for review – what part of the decision don’t you agree with, and why? Jot these down before starting.
  • Read dropdown options carefully – if the choices don’t make sense, select “Other” and explain in your own words.
  • Case conferences are worth doing – they are offered and we recommend asking for one. It’s a good chance to clarify the process and agree on next steps before any hearing.
  • New Information? This usually refers to medical reports or other evidence that supports your claim. Even if you haven’t got this yet, it’s okay to say you’re trying to get it. If you're facing barriers, explain what you're doing and what's getting in the way.
